Ms. Marvel’s Matt Lintz Was Almost The MCU’s Spider-Man Over Tom Holland

Matt Lintz, who plays Bruno in Ms. Marvel on Disney Plus, has revealed he was originally considered for a very different role in the MCU, when he was up against Tom Holland for the part of Spider-Man.

In Ms. Marvel, Matt Lintz’s lovable Bruno is the best friend and barely-secret admirer of Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan. He’s the show’s science whizz and a vital aid to Kamala’s burgeoning superhero career, basically her “guy in the chair.” However, Lintz recently revealed this wasn’t the first MCU role he was considered for.

In a recent interview with Insider, Matt Lintz revealed he had been in the running to play Peter Parker when the character made his MCU debut in Captain America: Civil War. Ultimately, of course, he lost out on the iconic superhero role to Tom Holland. In a strange twist of fate though, Lintz has found his way back to the MCU in Ms. Marvel.

Recalling his Spider-Man auditions, Matt Lintz revealed that he has since had the chance to meet Tom Holland when the actor came to the Ms. Marvel set (the show was filming in the same studios and at the same time as Spider-Man: No Way Home). Lintz revealed:

“I was in the top for Spider-Man, which eventually went to this guy, Tom Holland. I don’t know if you know who he is! No, it was cool because he ended up coming to one of our sets one day and I just got to speak to him, and I look up to him in so many ways. He’s such an amazing person and an actor and it seems like life has come full circle.”

It’s strange to think about what might have been had Matt Lintz landed the Spider-Man role over Tom Holland. However, it seems like both actors have found their ideal role in the MCU and are continuing to impress fans in the Spider-Man franchise and the current Ms. Marvel series.

Here is the synopsis for Ms. Marvel:

Marvel Studios’ “Ms. Marvel” is a new, original series that introduces Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City. An avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, Kamala is a Super Hero mega fan with an oversized imagination—particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel. Yet Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in at school and sometimes even at home—that is, until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life gets better with super powers, right?

The series stars Iman Vellani, Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Matt Lintz, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Fawad Khan, Mehwish Hayat, and Farhan Akhtar. Episodes of the series were directed by Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah, Meera Menon and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, with Bisha K. Ali serving as the head writer. Marvel’s Kevin Feige is involved in the series as an executive producer.
