Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau has extended his condolences to the state chapter of the Christain Association of Nigeria (CAN), over the death of Rev. Fr. Polycarp Lubo, the association’s chairman.

Gov. Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau has extended his condolences to the state chapter of the Christain Association of Nigeria (CAN), over the death of Rev. Fr. Polycarp Lubo, the association’s chairman.
Mutfwang, who also commiserated with the entire people of Plateau over the CAN chairman’s death on Friday in Jos at the late Priest’s family compound, was accompanied by his deputy, Mrs Josephine Piyo.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that Lubo, a priest of the Catholic Archdiocese of Jos, died as a result of injuries he sustained from an auto crash on May 28, which led to his death on June 15.
The governor, who expressed deep sorrow at the Priest’s passing, described him as his friend, with whom he had shared great moments, and urged everyone to be conscious of how they lived their lives, as life was not guaranteed.
“For me, he was a friend, we joked a lot, he told me things that bothered him, even at public functions we related very well.
“It was a rude shock that came to us on the eve of our 2nd anniversary thanksgiving when we heard of the accident, and we couldn’t believe it.
“I spoke with him while he was in the hospital, and we had all been looking forward to him having a successful surgery and returning home, but God had other plans.
“He was a friend to many people, and he also carried a lot of burden for many; he will indeed be missed, may God grant us all the fortitude to bear this loss” Mutfwang said.
The governor who admonished everyone present to live with the consciousness of death, prayed that God would daily “teach us to number our day that we may be wise”.
Responding, Mr Leo Dilken a former lawmaker and elder in the Priest’s family, thanked the governor for the support even through the period leading to Lubo’s death.
Dilken urged everyone present to give thanks to God in all circumstances, saying what happened was the will of God.
“As a family, we are very grateful, Fr Polycarp was a pillar to us in the house. We want to thank you for supporting the family and the Church during this trying period.
“Though Fr. Polycarp is a property of the Church, yet the state government has shown great support; and as a family, we are very grateful.
“The bible says we should give thanks in all circumstances, I therefore want to encourage us all to give thanks to God for everything he permits,” Dilken added. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
