LAGOS — Veteran Nollywood actress and Apostle Dr. Eucharia Anunobi has shared emotional insights about her late father, revealing the strict and often harsh opposition she faced growing up. Watch What Really Happened.
In an interview on the Honest Bunch Podcast by Glitch Africa Studios, Anunobi recounted that her father reacted violently the first time she painted her fingernails, even threatening to cut off her fingers.
She also revealed that her father strongly opposed her decision to pursue a career in acting, insisting she study law instead. According to Anunobi, he almost disowned her over her career choice.
“You know I have not been able to tell you about all the things I went through with my father—how he wanted to cut off my fingers because I painted my nails for the first time, how he wanted to disown me because I went into acting and refused to study law as he wanted. There are so many stories,” Anunobi said.
She further explained that when she began acting, she would secretly leave her home for auditions, adding that her father informally disowned her during that period.
Anunobi’s revelations shed light on the personal struggles behind her rise in Nollywood and highlight the challenges she overcame to pursue her passion for acting.
