‘My Early Sessions With Burna Boy Were Crazy’ – Spellz Opens Up On Studio Experiences With Wizkid, Davido

Nigerian music producer, Spellz, has shared his studio experiences with some of Nigeria’s singers, including Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, and Tiwa Savage.

Naijaonpoint reports that Spellz, in an interview with Punch, highlighted the distinct energy and creativity each artist brings into the recording booth.

According to Spellz, Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Davido are great artistes, and it has always been fun working with them.

Speaking about Wizkid, he said, “To start with, I think they’re all great artistes. They each bring something different every time. Wizkid has always been fun to work with because he knows exactly what he’s looking for just by listening to the beat. That kind of clarity makes the work easier and more enjoyable.”

Describing Davido as a bundle of energy and professionalism, Spellz said, “Working with Davido in the studio is always energetic. At the same time, he is handling business calls, but when it comes down to vocal engineering, he’s top-notch. Earlier in my career, he literally gave me a crash course in sound engineering. Those moments stick with one because they show how much knowledge can be exchanged in the studio.”

The producer also stated that his early days with Burna Boy were crazy because “he pieces songs together during a session is like solving a jigsaw puzzle really fast.”

He added, “My early sessions with Burna Boy used to be crazy because I’d never seen that man write before; neither with a pen nor on his phone. It all comes straight from his head to the microphone. The way he pieces songs together during a session is like solving a jigsaw puzzle really fast.”

Spellz also spoke fondly of Tiwa Savage’s work ethic, saying, “And what’s a Tiwa Savage session without ice cream? Beyond that, Tiwa is a perfectionist. She’ll push you to deliver your best because she always gives her best too.”
