The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced that several terrorists were eliminated in precision air strikes targeting a Boko Haram hideout in the Mandara Mountains of Borno State.
In a statement issued on Monday, NAF spokesperson Ehimen Ejodame said the strikes were carried out on Sunday under Operation Hadin Kai after intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions identified terrorist activity in the area.
According to Ejodame, the air strikes focused on Wa Jahode and Loghpere—key strongholds of the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) faction of Boko Haram.
He revealed that the mountainous terrain, located near the Cameroon border, had recently seen a surge in terrorist movements, including logistics build-up and the presence of senior JAS commanders.
“Surveillance revealed clusters of structures fitted with solar panels, black flags, and fortified compounds—clear indicators of insurgent resurgence,” he said.
Ejodame added that NAF fighter jets conducted coordinated air interdictions, destroying logistics warehouses, command centres, and fortified shelters used by the terrorists.
The strikes, he said, significantly disrupted the group’s supply chain and weakened their ability to carry out further attacks.
He reaffirmed the air force’s commitment to maintaining relentless operations aimed at restoring peace and stability in the region.
