The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has raised the alarm over the circulation of fake recruitment advertisements making the rounds on social media and other online platforms, warning the general public to disregard such messages.
In a press statement issued on Thursday by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the NAF clarified that it has not commenced any recruitment for the 2025/2026 Basic Military Training Course (BMTC) or Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC).
“The attention of the Nigerian Air Force has been drawn to fraudulent messages circulating online, falsely claiming that the NAF has commenced recruitment,” the statement read. “The Nigerian Air Force wishes to state that no such recruitment exercise is currently ongoing.”
The NAF reiterated that its recruitment process is free, transparent, and strictly based on merit. It also emphasized that it does not charge any fees nor engage third parties or agents in any of its enlistment processes.
“When a recruitment exercise is to be conducted, it will be officially announced and widely publicised through credible national dailies, the NAF official website, and its verified social media platforms,” the statement added.
To guard against falling victim to online scams, the NAF urged the public to verify any recruitment information only through its official communication channels. These include the NAF’s website and verified pages on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
Air Commodore Ejodame assured Nigerians of the Air Force’s commitment to integrity, transparency, and efficient service delivery in line with its constitutional mandate to project air power and safeguard lives and property.
The public is encouraged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
