Nigerian singer Naira Marley made his first statement hours after a Magistrate court cleared him and others from Mohbad’s death.
Kemi Filani reported on Tuesday that a Magistrate court sitting in Yaba, Lagos, had cleared Naira Marley, his aide Sam Larry, and Prime Boy from the death of Mohbad. The Magistrate said that they had no case to answer as regards the unfortunate demise of the late singer.
The court said it would prosecute the auxiliary nurse who injected him and one of Mohbad’s friends, Ayobami, for the offense of reckless and negligent acts.
Reacting to the news, Naira Marley, via his Twitter and Instagram page, shared verses from the Quran. One of the verses stated that anyone who puts their trust in Allah will be enough for him. Another verse noted how men conspire and plan against others, but Allah is the best planner.
“And whoever puts all his trust in Allah, he will be enough for him. (65:3).
And ‘remember, o Prophet,’ when the disbelievers conspired to capture, kill, or exile you. They planned, but Allah also planned. And Allah is the best of planners”.
Refreshing your memory, Mohbad, a former signee of Naira Marley’s record label, tragically passed away at 27 under unclear circumstances on September 12, 2023.
Following his death, his former boss, Naira Marley and his aide, Sam Larry lost the admiration of Nigerians when a video of Sam assaulting the late Mohbad surfaced online. The video sparked a flurry of reactions from the online community and led to the cancellation of Naira Marley and his label.
The duo were arrested and kept in police custody for more than five weeks but were released on November 17th after they met their bail conditions. After their release, the singer and his aide engaged in several charitable deeds to win back the hearts of Nigerians.
Back in March, a video of an Imam forcing Naira and Sam Larry to say Amen for the killers of Mohbad surfaced online and left tongues wagging. The Imam later spoke out on the incident, revealing that they had confessed to him that they were innocent and had nothing to do with his death, and had asked him to say a prayer for the killers of Mohbad.
