Nasarawa APC Deputy Chairman, Aliyu Barde Dies After Brief Illness

The Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, Hon. Aliyu Yakubu Barde, has died.

Family sources confirmed to Leadership that Barde passed away on Tuesday in Lafia after a brief illness. He will be laid to rest in his hometown, Wamba, according to Islamic rites.

Confirming the development, the State Secretary of the APC, Chief Otaru Douglas, described the late party chieftain’s death as a devastating blow to the ruling party and the entire state.

Before his emergence as APC Deputy Chairman in the state, Barde had served as Interim Management Committee (IMC) Chairman of Wamba Local Government Area during the administration of former Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.

In other news, the Chief Imam of Owo and Chairman of the Ondo State League of Imams and Alfas, Alhaji Ahmad Oladoke Aladesawe, has passed away at the age of 91.

Naijaonpoint reports that his death was announced on Tuesday by a Muslim leader in Owo, Alhaji Kamorudeen Ishola, who said the cleric died on Monday evening at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, Ondo State.

Ishola described the late Imam as a respected Islamic scholar and community leader who dedicated his life to the growth of Islam in Nigeria.
