The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has announced plans to host the inaugural edition of the Digital Awareness and Sensitization Fora, designed to strengthen policy, innovation, and infrastructure for Nigeria’s digital future.
According to the Commission, the fora aim to create a conducive environment for building infrastructure that supports innovation and inclusion, while bridging policy and infrastructure gaps critical to national development.
The maiden edition, themed “Leaving No One Behind: Digital Assets, Equity, and Empowerment,” is scheduled to hold on November 13, 2025, and will convene industry experts, policymakers, and community stakeholders to develop practical strategies for closing Nigeria’s digital divide.
Sessions at the forum will explore issues such as inclusive digital policymaking, equitable infrastructure deployment, adaptive digital literacy programmes, and affordability of digital services, with a focus on ensuring accessibility for all citizens.
Highlighting Africa’s youthful population—where 60% of people are under 25 years old—the NCC noted that Nigeria’s significant contribution to this demographic represents a powerful development asset. The Commission expressed its determination to harness the potential of young Nigerians while ensuring that no segment of society is left behind in the digital transformation journey.
Beyond youth inclusion, the NCC reaffirmed its commitment to the safety and empowerment of over 140 million Internet users across the country. The sensitization programme, it said, will emphasize the importance of inclusive participation in the digital economy and foster collaboration among regulatory agencies, academia, private sector players, and development partners to expand access and innovation in underserved communities.
The Digital Awareness and Sensitization Fora is a collaborative initiative involving key stakeholders, including the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF), National Orientation Agency (NOA), National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), Association of Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ATCON), FintechNGR, Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Terra Industries, Association of Nigerian Inventors (ANI), Secondary Education Board (SEB), National Universities Commission (NUC), Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD), Imose Technologies, and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
The event will feature panel discussions, exhibitions, and innovation showcases by fintech firms, students, and digital entrepreneurs, providing a platform to highlight Nigeria’s creativity and growing digital ecosystem.
For wider participation, the NCC announced that the event will be livestreamed nationwide via a dedicated portal — scf.ncc.gov.ng.
