The Nigeria Democratic Congress has zoned its 2027 presidential ticket to Southern Nigeria for a single four-year term.
The decision was reached at the party’s National Convention after a motion moved by Afam Victor Ogene, representing Ogbaru Constituency of Anambra State in the 10th National Assembly, was adopted by delegates.
The party also resolved that after the single four-year term, the presidential ticket would automatically be zoned to Northern Nigeria.
The development clears the way for Peter Obi and other southern aspirants to obtain the party’s presidential nomination forms ahead of the 2027 elections.
