The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Sen. Basheer Lado, says nominees for Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), will strengthen public trust in financial institutions.

The president had recently forwarded the list for the Managing Director and Executive Director nominees for NDIC to the National Assembly for screening and confirmation.

A statement by Sunday Iyogun, Assistant Director, Information and Public Relations to the special adviser, indicated that Lado said this, while presenting the nominees for screening to Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions.

The nominees for screening and confirmation were Dr Thompson Oludare Sunday for Managing Director and Dr Kabir Sabo Katata for Executive Director.

Lado said that their nominations underscored President Tinubu’s commitment to reforming and repositioning the financial sector through credible and experienced leadership.

“These nominations are based on proven competence, deep sectorial experience and a shared vision with the president to promote financial stability, protect depositors and strengthen the public’s trust in the banking system,” he said.

Chairman of the Committee, Sen. Tokunbo Abiru, thanked Lado for his commitment to facilitating relations between the president and the senate.

He assured that the committee would conduct a fair screening of the nominees in line with legislative procedures and make recommendations to the senate for confirmation.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
