THE National Economic Council (NEC) has approved President Bola Tinubu’s proposal to renovate and modernize all training institutions of Nigeria’s security agencies.

Speaking after the 153rd NEC meeting at the State House, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani explained that the initiative will cover training facilities of the Nigeria Police Force and other sister security agencies.

He added that state governments are expected to collaborate with the Federal Government on the implementation.

To begin the process, NEC constituted a committee chaired by Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, with members including Governors Uba Sani (Kaduna), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), and Sule Abdullahi (Nasarawa). Former Inspector General of Police Usman Baba will serve as the committee’s secretary.

Governor Sani noted that the committee will carry out on-the-spot assessments of the affected institutions.

Vice President Kashim Shettima chaired the meeting, which President Tinubu later joined after swearing in the new INEC chairman, Professor Amupitan.
