The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results, following the conclusion of the Award Committee meeting at the Council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by NECO’s Acting Director of Public Affairs, Azeez Sani, a total of 179,201 candidates registered for the examination across 12 subjects.
The examination began on May 12, 2025, and ended on May 23, 2025.
“During the meeting, the chairperson of the Award Committee, Dr (Mrs) Folake David, Director of Basic Education, Federal Ministry of Education, expressed satisfaction with the processes that led to the successful release of the results,” the statement read.
The Award Committee meeting, which paved the way for the release, was attended by NECO management and several secondary school principals from across the country.
In addition to releasing the results, NECO has approved the date and timetable for the 2025 BECE resit. The re-sit examination will be held on 23rd and 24th July 2025, covering Mathematics and English Studies, two core subjects required for progression to senior secondary school.
Candidates who wish to participate in the resit are expected to make necessary preparations as outlined in the guidelines to be released by the Council.
NECO urged schools and candidates to visit its official website or approved channels to check results and obtain further details about the re-sit process.
