Kelechi Iheanacho has been linked to Turkish Super Lig clubs Besiktas and Samsunspor recently, but a Bundesliga club has entered the fray….

Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho’s purported transfer to the Turkish Super Lig is now in doubt, as a Bundesliga club has expressed interest in acquiring his services, Soccernet.ng reports.

Since the end of last season, it has been almost sure that Iheanacho will leave Sevilla due to his failure to adjust to the club.

Recall that last season after a disappointing start to the campaign, when he spent more time on the bench than on the pitch, he joined Middlesbrough on loan. Still, he did not impress much there, and returned to Sevilla.

The talks about his future were a bit silent until the last two weeks, when news broke that Mexican club Pumas UNAM were considering a move for him.

Since then, Turkish Super Lig clubs Besiktas and Samsunspor have emerged as potential destinations, as they both need reinforcements.

Soccernet.ng even reported that Samsunspor had agree on personal terms with the former Leicester City star. However, they have not submitted a bid to Sevilla yet.

In the meantime, a new twist has emerged. This is as Nigerian journalist Buchi Laba reports that an unnamed Bundesliga club is interested in Iheanacho.

RB Leipzig were interested in the 28-year-old attacker three years ago, but the deal did not happen, as Leicester City decided against selling. And it is unclear if they are the Bundesliga club that want Iheanacho, especially as they just lost their main striker Benjamin Sesko to Manchester United.

Iheanacho will likely prioritize a club that fits how he plays. Game time would also matter a lot, as the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations is in December, and he might not get a spot in the squad if he does not get minutes regularly.

Will Kelechi Iheanacho stay at Sevilla

As the speculations of a possible Sevilla exit for Kelechi Iheanacho continue, there is also a slight chance that he might stay at the club, according to Buchi Laba.

Although he resumed late for pre-season, he has been training with the rest of his teammates regularly and has even gotten some minutes in their friendly games.

There is the belief that new Sevilla coach Matias Almeyda has taken a liking for the Super Eagles star. So, Iheanacho might get a more prominent role at Sevilla next season.

However, Sevilla need to sell this summer to register players due to LaLiga’s stringent financial rules.

Iheanacho seems like a player they can do without. So if a suitable offer arrives, they will likely sell.
