Nicki Minaj is at the center of fresh controversy after openly praising President Donald Trump this weekend.
The Grammy-nominated rapper’s remarks, delivered at AmFest, marked her clearest show of support yet and prompted swift backlash from fans and critics who were caught off guard by her enthusiastic endorsement.
Minaj attended the event alongside conservative figure Erika Kirk, who was recently named leader of Turning Point USA following the assassination of her husband, Charlie Kirk.
Asked directly about the president, Minaj spoke glowingly, describing her “utmost respect and admiration” for him and his administration. She credited Trump with giving people hope.

She also praised those surrounding him, saying the administration is made up of people with “heart and soul” and singling out both Trump and Vice President JD Vance as leaders she finds relatable.
“Our President shows that, he’s been through every single thing publicly and having to be constantly lied on,” she said.
“This administration is full of people with heart and soul, and they make me proud of them. I love both [President Trump and VP JD Vance]. They’re both powerful men, smart, strong, but both have a very uncanny ability to be someone you can relate to. I can relate to them. I know they’re one of us.”
The reaction online was immediate and intense. Many fans voiced disappointment, with some accusing Minaj of aligning herself with divisive politics and distancing herself from portions of her fan base.
