NIGER: Gov Bago donates N1b to Mokwa flood victims, awards N7b road project

In response to the devastating flood disaster in the Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State, Governor Umaru Bago has announced a package of interventions aimed at restoring hope and rebuilding lives.

During his visit to the temporary camp at Tiffin Madza Primary School, where hundreds of internally displaced persons (IDPs) are currently being hosted, the governor disclosed that the state government has donated ₦1 billion and fifty trucks of assorted grains to support victims of the flood.

In a further move to boost regional infrastructure and ensure safer mobility, the governor announced the award of the Mokwa-Raba Road project, including the construction of four new bridges, at the cost of ₦7 billion.

He explained that the project would ease movement, improve local commerce, and prevent isolation during future flooding.
