A man identified only as Gregory has died after collapsing inside a lodge located within the Niger State Government House premises in Minna, the state capital.
According to a statement by the Niger State Police Command, the incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Friday, August 2, while Gregory was visiting the chairman of the Niger Food Security Systems and Logistics Company Limited, Sammy Adigun.
Police reports indicate that Gregory became suddenly ill upon learning that his host was unavailable.
Medical personnel from the IBB Specialist Hospital in Minna were alerted, but he was reportedly dead before help could arrive.
State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the development, stating that police operatives from the GRA Division responded promptly and transported the unconscious guest to the hospital.
“The police operatives attached to GRA Division moved to the scene, and the guest was rushed to IBB Specialist Hospital, Minna, where he was later confirmed dead,” Abiodun said.
The body has since been deposited at the hospital mortuary, and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
