THE Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the lives of Nigerians following the rescue of the remaining 130 children and staff of St Mary’s Catholic School in Papiri, Niger State.

This was stated by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, in a statement released in Abuja yesterday.

Idris confirmed that all 230 pupils who had been abducted from the school have now been freed, with none remaining in captivity.

The recently released 130 students are being handed over to the Niger State Government before being reunited with their families.

The courageous actions of our security forces underscore the nation’s resolve to protect its citizens, the minister said.

He also expressed empathy for the parents and guardians affected by the abduction, wishing them a joyful reunion, a smooth healing process and a warm Christmas holiday.
