NIGERIA and Belgium are set to enhance economic collaboration, particularly in agriculture and food security, according to Finance Minister Wale Edun.
In a statement released today, the Director of Information and Public Relations, Mohammed Manga, stated that Edun met with Belgian Ambassador Pieter Leenknegt to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral ties in key economic sectors.
During the meeting, Edun highlighted Nigeria’s improving economy, noting declining inflation, price stability, and increased savings in the federation account.
He also emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting farmers through sustainable policies aimed at boosting agricultural productivity.
Reaffirming President Bola Tinubu’s dedication to macroeconomic reforms, Edun stressed that stronger ties with Belgium would benefit both nations.
Leenknegt, in response, expressed Belgium’s interest in expanding economic relations with Nigeria, describing the meeting as a significant step towards deepening bilateral cooperation.
“The two countries will continue exploring opportunities for collaboration,” he stated.
Both nations are expected to build on this engagement to drive economic growth and food security initiatives.
