A host of Nigerian players delivered standout performances for their clubs abroad on Sunday, March 9, 2025. Soccernet.ng was on hand to capture the biggest moments.

Spain

Christantus Uche justified his inclusion in Eric Chelle’s first Super Eagles provisional squad with a strong display as Getafe stunned Atletico Madrid 2-1 at the Estadio Coliseum.

Super Eagles winger Chidera Ejuke was Sevilla’s matchwinner, scoring a superb second-half goal to seal a hard-fought 1-0 victory at Real Sociedad.

It was Ejuke’s second La Liga goal since joining in the summer and helped Sevilla secure their ninth league win of the campaign.

Defender Gabriel Osho, also named in Chelle’s provisional squad, produced a commanding performance as Auxerre beat Reims 2-0 in Ligue 1.

Given his form, it will be difficult for Chelle to drop the former Luton Town man from his final squad.

However, it was a disappointing outing for Moses Simon, who came off the bench in Nantes‘ 1-0 loss to Strasbourg.

Belgium

Like Osho, Jordan Torunarigha is pushing for a spot in Chelle’s World Cup qualifiers squad, and he strengthened his case with a solid defensive display in Gent’s 1-0 win at Antwerp.

Raphael Onyedika, fully recovered from injury, started for Club Brugge and impressed in a 3-1 derby win over Cercle Brugge.

Elsewhere, Promise David, a former Nigeria youth international considering a switch to Canada, scored twice to inspire Union Saint-Gilloise to a 3-0 win over Standard Liège.

Greece

Super Eagles left-back Bruno Onyemaechi made his full debut in the Greek Super League and impressed as Olympiacos secured a 1-0 win over OFI.

In the Super League 2, Samson Obioha grabbed a consolation goal for Ethnikos Neo Keramidi in a 2-1 loss to PAOK II.

India

In the Indian Super League, defender Stephen Eze featured for Jamshedpur, but it was Daniel Chima who stole the show, scoring twice and providing an assist as Chennaiyin thrashed Jamshedpur 5-2.

Chima equalized in the 25th minute, assisted Lukas Brambilla’s goal just before halftime, and rounded off the scoring in the 96th minute to cap a brilliant individual performance.

Kazakhstan

In the Kazakhstan Premier League, Chinedu Geoffrey opened his season’s account, scoring in Astana’s 2-0 away win over Kyzyl-Zhar.

Serbia

Bamidele Yusuf was the hero for Vojvodina, scoring the matchwinner in the 73rd minute to secure a 1-0 triumph over Jedinstvo at Stadion Karađorđe, Novi Sad.

Yusuf now has 11 goals in 25 league games this season and sits joint second in the Super Liga scoring charts, five goals behind Red Star Belgrade’s Pape Cherif Ndiaye.

Turkey

New Super Eagles invitee Anthony Dennis featured in Goztepe’s 3-1 defeat at Sivasspor, where his side played much of the match with ten men.
