The Nigerian Senate has approved the hiring of an additional 30,000 youths for the Nigeria Police Force.
The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Police Affairs and representative of Jigawa North East, Senator Ahmad Abdulhamid Malam Madori, disclosed this information to reporters in his office on Friday, June 27.
He stated that the Police Service Commission received authorisation to recruit more police personnel.
He elaborated that the Federal Government has sanctioned the recruitment of an extra 30,000 youths this year to enhance effective policing and address the current manpower shortages.
Madori said, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given the commission go ahead to recruit the number every year to fill the gap in the Force.”
He mentioned that the service will publicize the recruitment through National Dailies and cautioned Nigerians to exercise caution to avoid falling victim to scammers.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government has announced a shift in the commencement date for recruitment into paramilitary agencies under the Ministry of Interior, pushing the earlier scheduled date from June 26 to July 14, 2025.
Naijaonpoint reports that the announcement was made on Wednesday, with a statement issued by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB).
According to the Board, the official recruitment portal will now go live on Monday, July 14, 2025, almost three weeks after the original date.
“The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), wishes to notify the general public that its recruitment portal, which was earlier slated to open on Thursday, 26th June, 2025, will now open on Monday, 14th July, 2025,” the statement read.
It also clarified the official web address for all applications, urging interested candidates to take note.
“The Board’s portal address for prospective applicants desiring to apply into the Service of their choice is now: recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng,” it added.
The CDCFIB emphasised that all applications are completely free of charge, warning applicants not to pay money to anyone or any agent claiming to represent the board.
The statement further stated, “Applicants are kindly requested to take note of the above changes as well as be reminded that all applications are free and do not attract any payment.”
The Board apologised for any inconvenience the sudden shift in dates might have caused prospective applicants and reiterated its commitment to a transparent and seamless recruitment process.
