Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva says Nigeria remains one of Brazil’s key partners in Africa.
Lula said this on Monday while welcoming President Bola Tinubu to the Palácio do Planalto in Brasília.
He said both countries share deep historical and cultural ties that date back decades.
He wrote on X: “Nigeria is one of Brazil’s main partners on the African continent, with whom we share deep historical and cultural ties.
“This year, we celebrate 65 years of our bilateral relations. Welcome, President Tinubu.”
Earlier, Tinubu had described the state visit as a renewal of historic relations between both nations.
“I look forward to working with President Lula to deepen cooperation in agriculture, energy, trade, and culture, towards building a future of shared prosperity across the Atlantic,” Tinubu wrote on X.
