Victor Adoji, chieftain of the All Progressives Congress and 2027 senatorial aspirant in Kogi State, has said Nigeria remains trapped in what he described as a “problem space”.
He warned that the country must urgently transition to solution-driven governance.
Speaking in a recent interview, Adoji said that political leaders have spent excessive time diagnosing national challenges and trading blame rather than implementing practical reforms capable of transforming lives.
According to him, “Nigeria is largely operating in what I call the problem space. We have mastered the art of identifying what is wrong, but we have not been deliberate enough about moving into the solution space.
“We cannot continue to dwell on complaints. Leadership must be intentional about building solutions, not recycling problems.
“Our politics, unfortunately, is mostly non-ideological. It operates on the principle of might is right. But that is not sustainable for national development.”
He warned that failure to deliberately shift into what he termed the “solution space” could prolong economic hardship and deepen social instability.
Adoji emphasised the need for data-driven governance, stressing that weak statistics and fragile institutional frameworks continue to undermine effective policy implementation across the country.
“Credible data must form the backbone of national planning if the country is to address unemployment, poverty, and infrastructural deficits meaningfully,” he said.
Adoji urged the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to prioritise the formalisation of the informal sector and strengthen critical industries, particularly electricity, to unlock productivity and expand revenue generation.
The APC stalwart also decried excessive partisanship and political smear campaigns, noting that such practices deepen divisions and distract leaders from nation-building.
