Where the match will be won and lost
The Flying Eagles hold the advantage when it comes to head-to-head games against Tunisia in the AFCON U-20 tournament, as previously reported by Soccernet.ng. Ahead of the highly-anticipated fixture between both sides this evening, this piece highlights important points that could affect the outcome of the game.
1. Mentality
With history in favour of the Flying Eagles, the youngsters have the task of avoiding laxity and overconfidence. Nigeria’s brilliant record should instead spur them to keep the green and whites on the positive side of the rich history against Tunisia.
Should Zubairu’s side slip, the Tunisians will be hoping to capitalize to claim all three points.
2. Defense
Nigeria’s captain, Daniel Bameyi, was immense during the WAFU-B tournament in Togo last year, and will lead the Flying Eagles from the back as they look to keep things tight.
3. Attack
Like Bameyi, Lillestrom SK attacker, Kpaboro Ariehri was a joy to behold during the WAFU-B U-20 tournament and in the 2024 Gothia Cup in Sweden where he claimed he was the tournament’s highest goal scorer.
The 18-year-old will be crucial for the Flying Eagles this evening, and whether Nigeria will bag three points depends heavily on the teenage sensation.
