The 1 Division Nigerian Army on Friday offered a special prayers for peace and unity in NIgerian in commemoration of the Nigerian Army at 162.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the special prayers were held at the division’s Central Mosque, Ribadu Cantonment, Kaduna.
NAN also reports that the Chief Imam of the division, Lt.-Col. Abubakar Yakubu, led the commemorative prayers
The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 1 Division, Maj.-Gen. Mayirenso Saraso, said that the Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2025 was a celebration of its contributions to national security and peace.
Saraso was represented by the Commander 1 Division, Equipment Support, Brig.-Gen. Mohammad Lawal.
He said, “It is an annual occasion that we used to celebrate and remember our contribution to the Nigerian Army successes in terms of security challenges.
“We also offer prayers for our fallen heroes who sacrificed for Nigeria to be one and who retired in active service.”
He said the military played a crucial role in maintaining peace and stability, and their efforts were essential to the country’s well-being.
Saraso added, “All the efforts we have been doing are to ensure that Nigeria is peaceful and united.
“So, we are celebrating our contribution and sacrifices to ensure that
Nigeria is one and peaceful.
“We are happy that we are still alive and putting our best to ensure that there is peace in the country.
“We are praying for peace in Nigeria,
so that all these challenges and
whoever is behind it, we expose them,
so we can be peaceful in Nigeria.”
The GOC said the prayer and celebration serve as a reminder of the importance of unity and peace in Nigeria.
Saraso said, “By coming together and supporting one another, Nigerians can overcome the challenges and build a brighter future for all.”
