Thai health officials have revealed that Nigerian-British businessman and social media personality, Igho Ubiribo, underwent five penile enlargement treatments at a Bangkok clinic before his death.

Ubiribo, 43, reportedly died after receiving his fifth treatment at the facility while holidaying in Thailand with his wife. He was said to have undergone the final procedure on March 5, 2026.

The latest revelation followed an investigation launched by Thailand’s health authorities after the businessman died following the cosmetic treatment. Officials from the Department of Health Service Support and the Food and Drug Administration inspected the clinic on September 7.

The clinic reportedly told investigators that Ubiribo had been receiving penile filler injections there since 2024, with four procedures performed before the treatment that preceded his death.

For the final session, about 40cc of filler was injected into his penis. The attending doctor had reportedly advised that the treatment be split into two sessions, but Ubiribo chose to have the procedure completed in one sitting.

Authorities said the businessman later went for a massage after leaving the clinic. He subsequently complained of chest pain, lost consciousness and was rushed to a private hospital in Bangkok.

Doctors reportedly suspected a pulmonary embolism and prepared to conduct a CT angiography. However, Ubiribo became pulseless before the scan could be carried out, prompting medical workers to begin prolonged resuscitation efforts.

Despite more than 100 minutes of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, he could not be revived and died in the early hours of March 6.

Thai authorities said their investigation is focused on determining whether the clinic followed the appropriate medical procedures and professional standards during the treatment.

The Director-General of the Department of Health Service Support, Phuwadej Surakhot, said the evidence being gathered would be used to determine the next course of action.

He said the matter could be referred to Thailand’s Medical Council for assessment of the professional conduct of the medical personnel involved.

No official finding of medical malpractice has been made against the clinic, while the investigation is still ongoing.

However, an earlier UK coroner’s inquest reportedly concluded that the cosmetic procedure contributed to a fatal pulmonary embolism. A postmortem examination also reportedly detected material in Ubiribo’s lungs consistent with hyaluronic acid used in the filler treatment.

Following the incident, aesthetic medicine and dermatology specialist, Dr Mobola Savage, cautioned that penile filler procedures could carry serious medical risks despite being marketed as non-surgical treatments.

Savage explained that the treatment Ubiribo received was designed to increase penile girth rather than length, adding that such procedures still involve an invasive intervention in an area with significant blood vessels.
