Nigerian couple welcomes first child after 30-year wait

Nigerian couple welcomes first child after 30 year wait 2

A Nigerian couple, Segun and Kemi Omotinugbon, has gone viral on social media after sharing a church testimony about the birth of their first child nearly three decades after marriage.

The testimony, which has since gained widespread attention online, was delivered at the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries during its Power Must Change Hands service held on Saturday, February 7, 2026.

In the viral footage, the woman recounted how she and her husband got married in July 1994 and waited for many years before finally welcoming a child.

As she spoke, her husband was visibly emotional, shedding tears that moved members of the congregation.

According to her, the couple endured years of prayers and medical procedures, including two unsuccessful in-vitro fertilisation attempts, before she eventually conceived in May 2024.

“We got married in 1994, July precisely. Since then we’ve been believing God for the fruit of the womb. It had been a challenging time, but God manifested himself after all. We’ve been through some treatments, two failed IVFs,” she said.

The woman disclosed that she conceived at the age of 56 and later gave birth in January 2025, shortly before turning 57.

“The journey had been that of pain, cry and joy at times. Anytime I saw people testify, I asked God when will I testify. You have not called me to shame. You have not called this home to shame, and God did it,” she said.

She further recalled sustaining a leg injury during the waiting period but said she never lost faith.

“There was a time I had an attack on my leg, and I told God I would still need this leg to carry pregnancy. And God helped me,” she added.

The video continues to trend across various social media platforms, with many Nigerians sharing emotional reactions and congratulatory messages for the couple.
