There are indications that the agriculture business appears to be the easiest avenue to promote youth development and empowerment in Africa.
These indicators followed an agriculture initiative tagged “The Transforming African Agricultural Universities to meaningfully contribute to African Growth and Development, TAGDev 2.0 Programme.
Here in Nigeria, the initiative is geared towards empowering Out-of-School-Youth in rural areas, with a recent training held at the Federal College of Education, Technical, Omoku, Rivers State.
In an interview, TAGDev Program Coordinator of the University of Port Harcourt, Professor Ibisime Etela, said collaborations with RUFORUM and the Mastercard Foundation, were important to equip women, young people, and differently-abled persons with practical skills in Agriculture.
Also speaking, Project Coordinator for FCE (Technical), Omoku, Doctor Oweisana Akpokabowei, described the platform as a life-changing initiative.
Also speaking, a differently-abled lady, Vicky Alfred, promised to use the opportunity.
