THE Nigerian Red Cross Society has swiftly responded to the catastrophic floods in Maiduguri by deploying Disaster Response Teams to provide critical aid to affected communities.
The teams will focus on constructing temporary shelters, offering psychological support, and helping residents rebuild their livelihoods in Damboa, Bayo, Jere, and Maiduguri.
Prince Oluyemisi Adeaga, President of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, emphasised the urgency of the situation, stating that the organization requires at least $2.5 million to restore stability to the lives of those impacted ¹. The Red Cross aims to support 4,500 households with essential food and non-food items.
Key Areas of Focus:
– Immediate Relief: Providing food, clean water, hygiene kits, and medical assistance to prevent waterborne diseases.
– Shelter and Protection: Offering temporary housing and essential items like blankets and clothing.
– Long-term Recovery: Rebuilding homes and restoring livelihoods.
The Nigerian Red Cross Society urges individuals, organizations, and the international community to contribute to this critical cause.
