Nigerian artistes once again proved their dominance on the continental stage at the 9th All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), held Sunday night at Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos.
The glittering ceremony, organised by the International Committee of AFRIMA in partnership with the African Union Commission and hosted by Lagos State, celebrated Africa’s musical excellence amid a week-long festival of events.
Rema emerged as the night’s biggest winner, clinching three major accolades: Artiste of the Year, Best Male Artiste in Western Africa, and Best African Artiste in RnB and Soul.

Burna Boy added to his trophy cabinet by winning Album of the Year for his critically acclaimed project No Sign of Weakness, further cementing his status as one of Africa’s most decorated artists.
Yemi Alade secured Best Soundtrack in a Movie, Series or Documentary for her song “You Are” from the animated series Iyanu, highlighting her versatility beyond mainstream hits.
Street-pop sensation Shallipopi had a stellar night, taking home Song of the Year for his viral track “Laho” and Best African Collaboration alongside Burna Boy on the same song.
Phyno claimed Best African Artiste in African Hip-Hop, while fast-rising talent Chella was crowned African Fans’ Favourite, reflecting strong grassroots support.
In the highly competitive Most Promising Artiste of the Year category, Qing Madi triumphed over a strong field of nominees including Cysoul, Joshua Baraka, King Luca, L’Oiseau Rare, Lwah Ndlunkulu, Massamba Amadeus, Rym, Kunmie, and Fola.
