Premier League club Chelsea reportedly retain their interest in highly regarded Super Eagles marksman Victor Osimhen and are not ruling out a potential move as they look to bring in striking reinforcements this summer, Footynaija.com understands.

Chelsea, who are well known to be long time admirers of Osimhen, nearly succeeded in their bid to take the Nigerian goal-machine to Stamford Bridge last summer after agreeing a fee with Napoli.

However, significant disparities between Osimhen’s wage demands and what the Blues were willing to offer meant the deal could not be completed, leading to the striker’s loan move to Turkish Super Lig giants Galatasaray.

Now almost a year later, reports coming in from BBC Sport reveal that the Blues still have the widely sought-after Nigeria international on their radar, although they are considering a number of other options as well.

“Chelsea are quite guarded on which player is most likely to join. One reason is that in Delap’s case, for example, Manchester United are in the race.

“Another reason is Arsenal want a big name striker, with both clubs also looking at Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres.

“Even Victor Osimhen from Napoli (on loan at Galatasaray) isn’t being ruled out at this stage, but Chelsea found his wage demands prohibitive when negotiating for him last summer.”

Osimhen has made giant strides in Turkey since arriving on loan from Napoli last summer to justify the flock of suitors that will be gunning for his signature when the summer transfer window opens.

The former Lille hitman has enjoyed an absolutely fantastic campaign in front of goal this season, registering 33 goals and 7 assists across all competitions to record his best ever tally of goal contributions in his professional career.
