Nigeria’s headline inflation rate fell to 15.15 percent in December 2025, down from 17.33 percent in November, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

The NBS Consumer Price Index report also showed inflation was significantly lower than the 34.8 percent recorded in December 2024. Month-on-month inflation slowed to 0.54 percent, from 1.22 percent in November.

Food inflation declined sharply to 10.84 percent year-on-year, driven by lower prices of staples such as tomatoes, garri, eggs, beans, vegetables, and grains.

The NBS said recent changes to its CPI methodology were technical and did not reflect worsening economic conditions, noting that the data points to easing price pressures nationwide.
