Nigeria’s non-oil exports rose to an all-time high of $6.1 billion in 2025, representing an 11.5 per cent increase from the $5.4 billion recorded in 2024, the Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has said.
The Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the NEPC, Mrs Nonye Ayeni, disclosed this on Monday in Abuja during the council’s annual progress report and outlook briefing for non-oil exports in 2026.
Ayeni said figures obtained from pre-shipment inspection agencies show that the 2025 performance is the highest value of non-oil exports ever recorded in Nigeria’s history of formal, documented trade, and since the establishment of the council nearly five decades ago.
According to her, the sector achieved both value and volume growth during the year, reflecting improved diversification and value addition across export categories.
“In value terms, Nigerian non-oil exports reached approximately $6.1 billion in 2025, an increase of about 11.5 per cent compared to the $5.4 billion recorded in 2024,” Ayeni said. “This represents the highest performance since the inception of the council almost 50 years ago.”
She added that export volume rose to 8.02 million metric tonnes in 2025, up from 7.29 million metric tonnes in the previous year, representing a 10 per cent increase.
Ayeni explained that Nigeria exported a total of 281 non-oil products during the year, spanning agricultural commodities, processed and semi-processed goods, industrial inputs, and solid minerals. She noted that the trend underscores steady progress in product diversification and value addition in the global market.
On export destinations, the NEPC boss said Nigerian non-oil products reached 120 countries in 2025. The Netherlands emerged as the leading destination, accounting for 17.53 per cent of total exports, followed by Brazil with 10.35 per cent and India with 7.63 per cent.
