Prince Emmanuel Kanu, the younger brother of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, has raised a strong alarm about what he describes as a fresh move to get him imprisoned.
The IPOB leader’s sibling says some “Igbo enemies” are working to frame him in the same way his brother was targeted.
POLITICS NIGERIA observed that Emmanuel made the claim while reacting to a circulating article that accused him of being the same person as Emma Powerful, the spokesperson of the Indigenous People of Biafra.
The write-up, published online, attempted to link the comments issued by Emma Powerful with the political efforts of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu in the South East.
The article also suggested that agitation for Biafra had become a “family enterprise” of the Kanus. Emmanuel described the entire narrative as a deliberate attempt to provoke security agencies and damage his public image.
In a firm rebuttal, he dismissed the accusation as “a sponsored media propaganda by the enemies of Ndigbo.”
He said those behind the publication were simply trying to create confusion by tying him to statements he never made.
Emmanuel added that the attempt to portray him as Emma Powerful was “too lame and laughable,” insisting that his identity has never been in doubt.
He explained that he had wanted to ignore the publication, but had to respond so that unsuspecting readers would not be misled.
According to him, his main focus at the moment is providing care and support for his brother who remains in custody.
He described Nnamdi Kanu as a “prisoner of conscience” and said the family has endured years of hardship due to decisions driven by hatred and injustice against the Igbo people.
Emmanuel accused certain individuals he described as “traitors masquerading as Igbo leaders” of working with external forces to weaken the Igbo nation.
He said their actions are already known by the people, and warned that “history will judge them.”
Nnamdi Kanu’s brother further noted that security agencies are fully aware of the real identity of Emma Powerful, pointing out that the spokesperson had granted a phone interview on national television in the past.
Emmanuel urged the public to disregard the “malicious and misleading article,” calling it another effort to distract the family and deepen the crisis surrounding the South East.
In a related development, the Kanu family recently condemned what they called suspicious moves around Nnamdi Kanu’s detention arrangements regarding his relocation to Sokoto prison.
They warned that any relocation or secret action concerning him could worsen tensions in the region, especially at a time when calls for peaceful engagement are increasing.
