Soccernet.ng can confirm that reports suggesting Super Eagles defender Igoh Ogbu is on the verge of joining German side Hamburger SV on loan from Slavia Prague are untrue.

Earlier claims indicated that HSV and Slavia Prague were in advanced talks over a loan deal with an option to buy for the 25-year-old centre-back.

However, checks by Soccernet.ng reveal that no such negotiations have taken place for the three-capped Super Eagles star.

In fact, Ogbu only signed a new contract with Slavia Prague in May to extend his stay with the Czech champions until December 2027.

The deal showed his importance to the club following his consistent performances since arriving in Prague.

Sources close to the player also dismissed rumours of a potential Bundesliga switch, emphasising that Ogbu remains focused on Slavia’s domestic and European campaign, particularly with the club set to feature in the UEFA Champions League—where they will play Arsenal, Inter Milan, Barcelona, and others.

The Nigerian international, who joined Slavia from Norwegian side Lillestrøm SK in January 2023, has established himself as a key figure in the team’s backline.

His decision to renew his contract was driven by his love for the club, which makes talk of a Hamburg move wide of the mark.

Following this, Ogbu remains fully committed to Slavia Prague, with no indication that a transfer to Germany is on the cards.
