A young Nigerian woman who cried out from Libya over the hardship she was experiencing in the country has returned safely to Nigeria.
The woman, identified only as Mercy, had hinted at wanting to end her life in a video she shared online that eventually went viral.
Subsequently, the Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission NIDCOM, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, swung into action. The leadership of the Nigerian community in Libya were able to track her when the Nidcom chairman reached out to them
Mercy has now been brought back to Nigeria and was received by Dabiri-Erewa.
Speaking after returning to Nigeria, Mercy warned Nigerians to avoid travelling to other countries without making adequate plans.
“No matter the situation, don’t leave the country,” Mercy said.
She added that she travelled with the hopes of making some money to care for her mother, but while there, she could not send home as little as N5 until her mother died.
