The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has tasked youths in Adamawa to take advantage of Federal Government programmes to succeed in their future endeavors.
Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, Director-General of NOA, made the call at a news conference enlightenment campaign on government policies and programmes in Yola on Friday.
The D-G, who was represented by his Director Special Duties, Mr David Akoji, said the Federal Government implemented different programmess for youth development in the country.
He listed some of the programmes to include the Nigeria Education Loan Funds, National Youth Investment Funds (NYIF), Social Safety Net, Renew Hope Infrastructure Fund and Industrial Training Fund, among others.
He said, “Some Nigerian students have started benefiting from loan especially those who don’t have access to tertiary institutions because they don’t have the money”.
He added that the money will be paid until the student graduated and the pay back is when the beneficiaries get job.
According to him, part of the sensitisation campaign includes national value re-orientation for students of secondary and tertiary institutions against extreme sign-out practices.
Others are flood mitigation, identity project and national symbol, security awareness across communities toward achieving improved security consciousness.
“In the next couple of weeks, the Agency will be physically engaging the public in the 36 states, the Federal Capital Territory and the 774 Local Government Areas.
“This boots on the ground approach in various communities is aimed at enabling members of the public to speak their minds to the government, ask questions and get answers on programmes and policies of government that they require further clarity on,” he said.
He further urged media organisations to help the agency on public enlightenment across the state.
The director-general also called on Adamawa government to partner the agency in securing more opportunities from federal government on youth development.
Richard Bala-Dangari, State Director, NOA, Adamawa, commenting on the nationwide sensitisation exercise, said “ we shall be engaging the public to further understand the policies of government”.
He said that this would give the people the proper orientation for them to stop engaging in wrong things. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
