The North West Youth Network has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Yazeed Shehu Danfulani as the new Managing Director of the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC), describing it as a “masterstroke” that rewards competence and strengthens youth inclusion in governance.
In a statement issued Sunday, the group hailed the appointment as a major confidence boost for young professionals in the region and a clear signal that President Tinubu is committed to empowering credible technocrats irrespective of age or political affiliation.
“We applaud President Tinubu for this well-considered appointment. Yazeed Shehu Danfulani is a tested, trusted, and transformative leader.
“His emergence is a strong signal that this administration is serious about driving economic growth through capable hands,” said Bashir Kawu, Coordinator of the North West Youth Network.
Danfulani, an agribusiness expert and public finance professional, has since assumed office as NAIC Managing Director.
The federal agency is tasked with providing agricultural insurance and risk management support to farmers nationwide.
According to the group, Danfulani’s leadership is expected to revitalise NAIC and make it more accessible to smallholder farmers, particularly those in rural communities often left behind by previous interventions.
Kawu described the appointment as timely, given the federal government’s renewed push for food security and economic stability.
“For too long, young farmers in the North West have been excluded from critical agricultural schemes. With Danfulani at the helm of NAIC, we expect a shift — one that truly empowers rural farmers and shields them from devastating losses,” he said.
In what it described as a vote of confidence in the president’s leadership, the group also announced the launch of a grassroots mobilisation campaign across the seven North West states, aimed at delivering at least 20 million votes for President Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
“We’re not just expressing gratitude — we’re taking action. Our mobilisation campaign is underway. Structures are being set up in local governments and wards. We’re registering first-time voters, holding town halls, and going door to door,” Kawu stated.
He stressed that the youth network is connecting directly with farmers, students, and traders to demonstrate the administration’s achievements and the positive changes taking root under Danfulani’s leadership.
“This is beyond hashtags. It’s about engagement and evidence. Through appointments like Danfulani’s, we can show communities that this administration listens and delivers,” he added.
The group also called on Danfulani to justify the trust placed in him by ensuring NAIC becomes a responsive, grassroots-focused institution that supports dry season farming, livestock ventures, agritech startups, and youth-led cooperatives.
“This is not the time for bureaucracy. It’s time for delivery. NAIC must move from being a name on paper to a lifeline for Nigerian farmers — especially women and young entrepreneurs,” Kawu said.
He urged other federal agencies to emulate the NAIC model by prioritising merit, professionalism, and regional balance in future appointments.
“Young Nigerians are watching. Every appointment tells a story. And the message from Danfulani’s appointment is loud and clear: President Tinubu is listening, and we are ready to respond with loyalty, mobilisation, and results,” he concluded.
