Nothing to Cheer About – Atiku Reacts as Tinubu Reinstates Fubara

Atiku

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has condemned the reinstatement of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, calling it ‘nothing to cheer about.

Atiku stated that the original suspension of Governor Fubara and the Rivers State House of Assembly, imposed six months ago, was unconstitutional and remains illegal.

He argued that President Bola Tinubu lacked the authority to suspend a democratically elected governor and lawmakers.

Speaking amid the recent end of the emergency rule in Rivers State and the reinstatement of Governor Fubara, Atiku condemned the actions as reflective of a growing authoritarian streak in the federal government.

“The Rivers shenanigans only signpost the dictatorship of the Tinubu administration,” Atiku said, highlighting concerns over the violation of democratic norms in the state.

His reaction comes amid President Tinubu’s directive for Fubara to resume office today following the end of the emergency rule in Rivers State.
