November 1 Will Be A Great Day For Back To The Future Fans

A huge win for Back to the Future fans is just days away. The time travel franchise, which was created by Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale, follows the adventures of mad scientist Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) and his teenage sidekick Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox). The original Back to the Future debuted on July 3, 1985, making 2025 the year of the franchise’s 40th anniversary.

Per Vogue, Netflix will be getting in on the franchise’s anniversary celebrations by adding all three Back to the Future movies to their streaming library on November 1. In addition to collecting the entire trilogy all in one place, this marks the first time in a while that the trilogy has been available on streaming.

At the time of writing, the Back to the Future movies are not available on any free or subscription-based streamers in the United States, though they can be rented or purchased on a variety of digital platforms, at an average price point of $3.99 and $7.99 respectively.

Because Netflix is still one of the biggest platforms in the streaming era, this means that the franchise will be available to one of the broadest at-home audiences in the world. However, it remains to be seen if any installments of the Back to the Future franchise will end up landing spots on Netflix’s weekly global chart of their Top 10 English-language Movies.

This is because November 1 is a day that a lot of new movies will flood Netflix, including the Hangover trilogy, The Nun II, the Ace Ventura movies, Frances Ha, Game Night, Tenet, Paddington 2, Ready Player One, Baby Driver, Wonka, Tyler Perry’s A Madea Christmas, and Crazy Rich Asians.

However, the Back to the Future movies may prove to be difficult to beat. In addition to the fact that the trilogy is celebrating an important anniversary in 2025, it remains one of the most beloved franchises of all time.

At the very least, it seems likely that the original installment, which boasts a superb audience score of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, will find its way onto the chart.

Regardless of its chart performance, it is thematically appropriate that all three Back to the Future movies will be returning to streaming shortly after October 21, 2025, which marks the 10th anniversary of the date to which Marty and Doc Brown travel in 1989’s Part II, in which they visit the future.
