Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has approved a monthly stipend of ₦30,000 for every National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member deployed to the state, in a move aimed at improving the welfare of corps members serving in Ebonyi.
The governor announced the initiative during the official swearing-in ceremony of the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Afikpo, Ebonyi State.
The monthly stipend is expected to provide additional financial support to corps members throughout their period of national service in the state.
Representing Governor Nwifuru at the ceremony, the Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Chidiebere Onyia, said the administration remained committed to the welfare and security of young Nigerians deployed to Ebonyi under the NYSC scheme.
Onyia assured the corps members that the state government would continue to provide an enabling and secure environment for them to carry out their national service assignments effectively.
He urged the corps members to embrace the opportunity to serve in Ebonyi, describing the NYSC programme as an important platform for promoting national unity, cultural integration and youth development.
The commissioner encouraged the corps members to abide by the rules and regulations guiding the service year, while making meaningful contributions to the communities where they would be posted.
The ₦30,000 monthly stipend adds to the support provided to corps members by the Federal Government through the NYSC and underscores the state government’s stated commitment to youth-focused policies and programmes.
The development is expected to strengthen the relationship between the Ebonyi State Government and the NYSC while boosting the morale of corps members serving across the state.
