Peter Obi

The 2023 Labour Party Presidential Candidate in the 2023 general election Mr Peter Obi has directed that all Labour Party members/ faithfuls in Imo State go and register with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) immediately.

Obi gave the directive through a statement signed by the Imo State Labour Party acting chairman, Chief Innocent NwaDavid, on Wednesday in Owerri.

According to the statement, the directive is in line with the programme and decision of Peter Obi to declare for the ADC on Wednesday.

The statement urged “all Zonal Chairmen, LGA 11 Ward Chairmen and Labour Party/Obedients members that believe in HE Peter Obi are to follow suit by registering with ADC.”

“This is the political vehicle he will use to actualise his Presidential ambition”, the statement concluded.

Obi had earlier on Wednesday, along with other political leaders from the South-East geopolitical zone, declared for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In his speech at the event, Peter Obi said the move to the ADC marks the beginning of the journey to rescue the country from the APC.

“Today is an important day; today is the last day of 2025, so we are ending this year with the hope that, in 2026, we will begin a journey of the rescue of our country for proper socio-economic development that will be unifying and inclusive.

“We have all watched those who benefited from our democracy, sometime now, become accessories to destroying our democracy, either through coercion and gangsterism against the opposition. We cannot allow this to happen, we will resist it,” Obi said.
