FORMER Anambra State Commissioner for Information, C-Don Adinuba, has refuted widespread rumours claiming that ex-governor Willie Obiano has died.
Adinuba confirmed today that Obiano is alive, healthy, and currently residing in Houston, United States.
Social media reports had alleged that the former governor, who led Anambra State from 2014 to 2022, passed away in London.
Adinuba described the claims as “provocative” and “unfounded,” stressing that he had spoken directly with Obiano and his family shortly before the interview.
“The rumour is not true. I just spoke with the former governor and members of his family. He is hale and hearty in Houston, where he resides,” he said.
He added that Obiano had not travelled to London, was not hospitalised, and remained in good health.
He urged the public to disregard the false reports.
Obiano’s personal publicist, Tony Nezianya, also told that he had no information confirming the rumour.
Willie Obiano, who succeeded Peter Obi and handed over to Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo in March 2022, hails from Aguleri in Anambra East Local Government Area and was born on August 8, 1955.
He remains under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over an alleged ₦4 billion fraud.
