Pogoń Szczecin have completed the signing of Nigerian winger Paul Mukairu from Danish champions FC Copenhagen, bringing an end to the player’s Scandinavian journey, Footynaija.com reports.

Mukairu, 25, joins the Polish top-flight side on a two-year contract, with an option to extend for a further season.

The former FC Hearts Academy talent leaves Copenhagen six months before the expiry of his contract, following an impressive loan spell at Turkish club Boluspor.

During his time in Turkey, Mukairu emerged as the league’s top assist provider in the 2024/25 season, racking up 14 assists and 7 goals in 34 appearances — outperforming rivals Ryan Mendes and Florian Loshaj.

Speaking to the official website of Pogoń Szczecin, Mukairu said:

I am very happy to be here. After talking to the President, the coach and other people from the club, I decided that this would be an interesting step in my career. I know that the club wants to do something historic, and it is always good to be a part of something like that.”

Mukairu has been handed the No. 18 shirt as he prepares to contribute to Szczecin’s push for silverware.

The winger began his professional journey in Turkey with Antalyaspor, before catching the eye at Anderlecht during a season-long loan. He later joined FC Copenhagen, winning back-to-back Danish titles and a domestic cup. A stint in England followed at Reading, where he netted six times in 38 appearances.

Pogoń Szczecin describe their new signing as a dynamic forward, capable on both flanks and up front. Standing at 182cm, Mukairu is lauded for his pace, creativity, and one-on-one abilities.

The move marks a fresh chapter for the Nigerian as he swaps Denmark for Poland, eager to leave his mark in the Ekstraklasa.
