Nigeria international Chioma Olise has completed a move to Trabzonspor Women in the Turkish Women’s Super Lig, Soccernet.ng reports.

Olise leaves Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership champions Edo Queens to join the former Turkish league champions.

The Super Falcons midfielder has signed a one-and-a-half-year contract with the Turkish club and will wear the number 16 shirt. Her arrival is expected to strengthen Trabzonspor’s midfield as they push for a strong finish in the league.

Olise’s career began at Royal Queens, formerly known as Olori Babes, where she played a key role in the team’s promotion to the NWFL Premiership. Her performances quickly caught the eye of Edo Queens, where she enjoyed a breakthrough spell.

Under the guidance of head coach Moses Aduku, Olise helped Edo Queens secure the 2023/24 NWFL Premiership title. Her leadership qualities were further highlighted as she captained the team to victory in the West Africa Zone B (WAFU-B) Women’s Champions League in Côte d’Ivoire.

At the continental level, she led Edo Queens to a commendable fourth-place finish at the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League in Morocco, gaining valuable experience on the international club stage.

Olise’s rise in club football earned her a place in Nigeria’s youth national teams. She represented the Falconets at the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, helping them reach the quarter-finals. Her consistent performances saw her named in the squad for the 2024 edition in Colombia.

Later in 2024, Olise received her first senior call-up to the Super Falcons and featured in a two-legged friendly against Algeria. Her inclusion in the national team setup signals her growing reputation in Nigerian women’s football.

Trabzonspor Women, founded in 2007, have a history in Turkish football, winning the league title in the 2008/09 season. However, they finished 11th in the 16-team league during the 2023/24 campaign.

This season, the team has shown significant improvement and currently sits in sixth place with 10 wins, two draws, and five losses from 17 league matches. Olise’s arrival is seen as a key addition as Trabzonspor aims to close the gap on the league’s top sides.
