Operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, known as So-Safe Corps, have arrested a 42-year-old farmer, Ganiu Agbajo, over the alleged rape of a 12-year-old girl in Ipokia Local Government Area of the state.
The girl reportedly returned home in distress and told her mother that Agbajo had sexually assaulted her at his farm. The disclosure prompted the mother to raise an alarm, drawing the attention of other members of the community.
The suspect was arrested on September 7, 2026, after concerned residents reported the incident to the corps in Ipokia. The alleged offence took place at the suspect’s farmland in Ojugo, Ita-Egbe, according to the security agency.
Following the complaint, So-Safe operatives reportedly traced Agbajo to his residence at Hassan Compound, Igbokulu, Ita-Egbe, where he was taken into custody.
The Corps Commander, Dr Soji Ganzallo, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations, ACC Adegunwa Adegbuyi, in Abeokuta.
Ganzallo said preliminary questioning of the suspect produced an alleged admission that the incident occurred on his farmland.
He said the agency responded immediately after receiving the report, adding that the cooperation of residents was instrumental in bringing the matter to the attention of security authorities.
The commander said the suspect would be handed over to the police for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Ganzallo urged members of the public to promptly report suspicious or criminal activities to security agencies, stressing that timely information remained important in protecting vulnerable members of society.
