The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has urged the Muslim community in the state to continue their prayers and back President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the country approaches the 2027 general elections.

Naijaonpoint reports that he made the appeal during a special Walimah celebration marking the first anniversary of his administration, held at the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub in Benin City.

The event, titled “365 Days in Office Celebration Walimah of His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo,” brought together members of the Muslim faith, who were acknowledged for their loyalty and prayers over the past year.

In a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Fred Itua, Governor Okpebholo described their support as essential to the achievements of his administration in its first year.

He stated that his government is committed to serving all residents of Edo State, regardless of religion or background, with appointments and policies based on competence and capacity.

Okpebholo said the unity and welfare of the state remain his top priorities, adding that governance should focus on service and collective interest rather than personal gain.

The governor also expressed his full support for President Tinubu, pledging both political and moral backing ahead of the 2027 elections.

He announced plans to deliver a significant number of votes from Edo State to the president, saying that the administration would continue to align with leaders who value integrity, unity, and competence.

Okpebholo assured the Muslim community of ongoing engagement and collaboration with religious and traditional leaders across Edo State.

The Edo Governor highlighted the importance of listening to their concerns and seeking their counsel in governance matters.

During the celebration, a documentary showcased the achievements of the first year of his administration, including developments in infrastructure, healthcare, education, security, and economic initiatives.

Former Edo State Deputy Governor Lucky Imasuen praised the governor for his people-centered approach, describing his leadership as inclusive and compassionate.

The event concluded with an award presented to Governor Okpebholo for his dedication to service, humility, and inclusive governance.
