The Commissioner of Police(CP), Oyo State Command, Johnson Adenola, has announced that robust security measures have been put in place to ensure a smooth transition process for the late Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.
Adenola announced the measures in a statement issued on Tuesday in Ibadan.
He listed the measures to include strategic deployment of the command’s intelligence and operational resources, particularly around the Olubadan’s palace.
Adenola further stated that the command had put in place enhanced visibility policing, convoy patrols in collaboration with sister agencies, and rigorous surveillance operations.
He said the moves had begun with intelligence-led stop-and-search initiatives throughout the metropolitan area and beyond.
He described late Oba as a revered first-class leader whose active involvement and unwavering support in combating criminal activities significantly contributed to the peace and security of the state.
“His legacy of dedication to maintaining a tranquil environment will be deeply missed, “he said.
The CP also urged all citizens to remain law-abiding and continue their daily activities without fear of harassment or molestation.
He also urged parents and influential figures in religious, socio-political, and other spheres to guide their children, wards, and protégés against any actions that could disrupt public peace, warning that violators would face strict consequences.
The CP extended heartfelt condolences on behalf of the command to the Olubadan-in-Council and the people of the state on the passing of Oba Olakulehin.
