Ondo Anti-Corruption Chair Calls For Cooperation Among Agencies – Independent Newspaper Nigeria

Justice Williams Akintoroye, Chairman of the Ondo State Public Complaints, Financial Crime, and Anti-Corruption Commission (SPFACC), has called for stronger collaboration between anti-corruption agencies to effectively tackle corruption in Nigeria.

Speaking at a capacity-building workshop for local government officials and stakeholders in Akure, the Ondo State capital, Akintoroye, a retired judge, stressed that agencies like the EFCC, ICPC, and the Code of Conduct Bureau must work together rather than compete. He emphasized that joint efforts are crucial to addressing corruption, which has deeply affected all aspects of society.

He pointed out the negative effects of corruption, including poor education, underfunded hospitals, insecurity, and deteriorating infrastructure. Akintoroye called for a united front, involving government, citizens, civil society, and both public and private sectors, to curb the issue.

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, represented by Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Amidu Takuro, officially opened the workshop. He said the event aimed to promote good governance, transparency, accountability, and a zero-tolerance approach to corruption.

Experts such as Dr. Olukayode Daniel Adekeye, Barrister Cyril Akinrinsola, Prof. Adeyeye Adewole, and Mrs. Funmi Osundolire delivered technical sessions, guiding local government officials on promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance in their roles.
