Ondo Lawmaker, Ojogo Escapes Death In Road Crash

The lawmaker representing Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Donald Ojogo, escaped death at the weekend after his two-vehicle convoy was involved in a road accident along the Ore–Ondo highway.

The crash involved the lawmaker’s vehicle and a commercial bus, according to accounts of the incident.

Ojogo, who recently secured a return ticket to the National Assembly on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was said to have escaped without serious injuries, although some members of his entourage were hurt.

The federal lawmaker was travelling to Arogbo in Ese-Odo Local Government Area for a political engagement when the accident occurred.

Preliminary accounts blamed the incident on the driver of the commercial bus, who was alleged to have overtaken dangerously before colliding with an oncoming vehicle.

Ojogo also accused the driver of reckless driving and impatience, saying the incident could have ended differently.

“God took perfect control of the situation and prevented what could have turned into a tragic incident,” he said.

The lawmaker confirmed that those who sustained injuries in the crash were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

He expressed gratitude that no life was lost and described the outcome as divine intervention.

Ojogo also thanked God for sparing his life and those of members of his team, while calling attention to the dangers associated with reckless driving on major highways.
